IPhone has no key licence in China

Well-known Digital Marketing Agency, State media confirmed on Thursday Apple’s iPhone 6 still lacks a key network access licence in China. IPhone 6 is being launched in 10 countries and regions on Friday including Hong Kong, but not in mainland China.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China’s key tech industry regulator, Apple had won two other necessary approvals, one to certify the phone for the Chinese market and another for wireless devices. “But iPhone 6 still needs to obtain a key network access licence before it can enter the Chinese mainland market,” the report said.

Apple has said it was looking forward to making iPhones available to Chinese consumers “when they arrive in China”. The absence is notable because Apple’s revenue in “Greater China” is second only to the United States, and Apple chief executive Tim Cook has said he expects it to become the biggest market in time.
